Emmett Harvey Exceptional Service Trophy

In 1963, the board established an award for any member who performs exceptional service to the Club. In 2003, Joe Harvey donated this sextant trophy as a perpetual trophy for this award in memory of his father, Emmett Harvey, who was a very active member of the Club.

Emmett Harvey was actively involved in racing everything from small boats to the top ocean racers of his time, including many Club regattas and five Transpac races, but his greatest love was probably open ocean navigation. As a member of the Club from the late 1930s until he passed away in 2001, he served the club in many capacities, and was one of the first recipients of the Exceptional Service Award.
