Please join us in the Transpac Room for a chamber concert of compositions featured in the movie Master and Commander. The film is based on historical novels by Patrick O’Brian about the voyages of Captain Jack Aubrey and his naval surgeon, Stephen Maturin. The two are portrayed as violinist and cellist, playing their instruments aboard ship as they journey to the Mediterranean, Spain, Gibraltar, and the far side of the world.
The string trio consists of Heidi Hatch, violin, Dennis Karmazyn, cello, and Peter Hatch, viola and piano accompanist, who will introduce the program, and fill us in on the story and how the music relates to it.
The concert presentation seeks to evoke the seafaring life experiences of the story’s characters. The trio looks forward to presenting the program to sailors, boaters and mariners on Catalina Island and to yacht clubs throughout Southern California.
